I am in two group exhibitions that open tomorrow evening (Friday 19th
August). One is the Flanagan Art Prize at St Patrick's College
Ballarat. Entry to the opening is by ticket, otherwise the show is free
entry. Details at http://www.stpats.vic.edu.au/en/students-parents-staff/music-and-performing-arts/flanagan-art-exhibition/.
I won't get to the Flanagan Prize opening because I am going to an opening to launch the Globelight festival in Melbourne. The Globelight festival is mainly about art that uses light, and is across two venues, Off the Kerb Gallery at 66 Johnston St, Collingwood (which is where my piece is, just a digital print this time), and the Abbotsford Convent not far away.
Globelight Opening 1: Friday 19th August, Off the
Kerb, 66 Johnston St, Collingwood, 6-9 pm. Guest speaker is the artist
Peter Kennedy, a long-time practitioner of art using light and one of
the first Australian artists to work with light-based installations.
Globelight Opening 2: Saturday 20th August, Abbotsford
Convent, 6-9 pm. Guest speaker is Charles Justin, of the remarkable
Justin Art House Museum in Prahran.
Artist talks: There will be informal artist talks at Off the Kerb on Sunday 21st August, 2-4 pm. I will say something about my work.
The exhibition at Off the Kerb runs until September 2nd. The
exhibition at the Abbotsford Convent, which consists of works
distributed across the grounds, will be open evenings until 10pm, 20-28
August. Information about the festival at http://www.globelight.com.au/.
